PORTAGE, MI -- Owners of Crossroads Mall have filed a lawsuit seeking at least $2 million from the Metro bus authority, claiming buses have caused potholes and damage to private roads maintained by the mall. The lawsuit was filed Tuesday, May 9 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan and named Kalamazoo County, the City of Portage and the Kalamazoo County Transportation Authority as defendants. The authority operates the Metro bus service in the greater Kalamazoo area. According to the lawsuit, the weight of the Metro buses has caused damage to the roads and created 'giant potholes/sinkholes' in areas.
